Marysieńka Palace

June 27–28, 2026
Tournament Arena
(Southern Forecourt)

Feel the excitement of a real medieval battle and witness a show at the highest European level.

On the last weekend of June, the 13th-century Teutonic castle in Gniew will once again become the capital of knightly skill.

The best reenactors from three continents gather here, and the tournament hosts will be the famous Knights of Gniew – multiple champions of international arenas. These are not staged skirmishes. This is tough, sporting competition in full plate armor, based on the realities of 15th-century games.

The tournament tradition in Gniew dates back to 1992. During this year's jubilee edition, you will see three spectacular disciplines with increasing levels of difficulty and realism:

  1. Equestrian agility races: A display of precision and masterful horse control. Knights at full gallop wield traditional weapons: sword, spear, and lance.
  2. Meleé (Team tournament game): A dynamic, group clash of horse formations. Knights try to eliminate opponents from the fight using safe, wooden tournament maces.
  3. Tournament jousting: The most anticipated, classic event. Two riders charge at each other along a barrier. The aim is simple: to strike the opponent's shield or armor with a lance hard enough to break the wooden shaft or unseat the opponent.
  • 17:00 - opening ceremony and presentation of honorary guests and the knights of Gniew with their banners
  • 17:30 - skill races
  • 19:00 - Meleé (team tournament game)
  • 19:30 - tournament races of the knights of Gniew
  • 21:00 - evening of anniversary memories
